Creating connections

with a positive impact

Sustainability is a core part of our strategy. Our focus on continuous improvement drives us to positively impact the environment and our surroundings while promoting the well-being and inclusion of our colleagues.

LEED Platinum Certificate

The Circle, including the Convention Center lead in sustainability as Switzerland's largest LEED® Platinum certified project.

Minergie Certification

The Circle sets a benchmark for sustainability with fossil-free energy and LEED® Platinum certification.

Solar Power

The Circle harnesses solar energy with 1,861 photovoltaic panels generating 624,155 kWh annually.

Geothermal Energy and Thermoactivated Building Systems (TABS):

A geothermal energy storage system beneath The Circle covers 75% of its heating and cooling needs.

Water Efficiency

The Circle, including The Circle Convention Center, has been designed to reduce potable water consumption by 50% compared to standard buildings.

Swisstainable Certificate

Level I, Commitment: The Circle Convention Canter has met the requirements for the first level of the Swisstainable certificate.

The Circle Convention Center

LEED Platinum Certificate

The Circle, including The Circle Convention Center, sets new standards in sustainability, making it the largest LEED® Platinum certified project in Switzerland. Built with environmental responsibility in mind, the entire complex, including the Convention Center, is certified under LEED® 2009 for new buildings in the “Core & Shell” category. This reflects a strong commitment to sustainable building practices and energy efficiency at every level.

Minergie Certification

From the outset, The Circle was built with a commitment to sustainable construction. Located in an already developed area, this dense urban district uses primarily fossil-free energy and minimizes water consumption. Constructed with sustainable materials, The Circle has earned both the LEED® Platinum certification and the Swiss Minergie certificate, ensuring low energy use and high living quality throughout.

Solar Power

The Circle, including The Circle Convention Center, integrates advanced sustainable energy solutions with photovoltaic panels installed across six rooftops. Despite limited available roof space, 1,861 solar modules have been strategically placed to maximize efficiency, generating an annual yield of 624,155 kWh.

Geothermal Energy and Thermoactivated Building Systems (TABS):

A geothermal energy storage system beneath The Circle covers 75% of its heating and cooling needs. Heat and cooling are distributed via pipes embedded in the ceilings, eliminating the need for thermostats.

Water Efficiency

The Circle, including The Circle Convention Center, has been designed to reduce potable water consumption by 50% compared to standard buildings. Water-saving faucets reduce tap water usage by 30%, with an additional 20% savings achieved through grey water systems. Tenant spaces adhere to LEED® specifications for water reduction, using flow-limited faucets, dual-flush toilets, and waterless urinals.

Swisstainable Certificate

Level I, Commitment: The Circle Convention Canter has met the requirements for the first level of the Swisstainable certificate.  The Circle Convention Center is committed to sustainability and responsible management of the Bützenbühl hill and the adjacent nature reserve. We maintain our terraces with great care, respecting the local ecosystem, and promote biodiversity through planting local flora.
